There are few animals more difficult to photograph in the wild than a mountain lion (cougar). With the thousands of hours I have logged hiking in wild places, I have never seen one outside of a zoo of animal park. I have seen their tracks on many occasions and even heard one "scream" but no sightings. This painting was actually done while studying them at our local zoo. The background is the Wasatch Front under the light of a setting sun. I like the tranquil mood of this painting. I'm not sure about the title, however. --Excerpt from "Wild Things, Wild Places" on painting "Mount Majesty"
